No charges are expected in connection to the incident, officials said.

A Franklin man died when his motorcycle collided with a car on Saturday, officials said.

Thomas Chandler, 57, died at a local hospital after the crash, a spokesperson for the Norfolk District Attorney’s Office said.

Franklin police responded to the area of 543 East Central St. at about 7:27 p.m. Saturday, the department said in a statement.

Preliminary investigation suggests Chandler was riding his motorcycle on East Central Street when he came upon a bend in the road. He then crossed the center line into oncoming traffic and collided with a Ford Focus, the spokesperson for the Norfolk D.A.’s office said.

An off-duty Franklin firefighter who was nearby heard the crash and rushed to the scene to provide assistance, the spokesperson said.

Chandler was taken to Milford Hospital and later pronounced dead. The operator of the Ford, who is in his 20s, was also taken to the hospital because of the “nature of the traumatic event,” the spokesperson said, but did not sustain serious injuries.

The Franklin Police Department said they do not expect to file charges in the incident.

“Our thoughts are with the victim, their friends, and their family following this tragic incident,” the department said in a statement.

The Norfolk County DA’s office is actively investigating the incident, along with the State Police and Franklin police.
