Houston ISD Superintendent Mike Miles gives overview of 2024 STAAR test performance

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) —The results are in. Now, Houston ISD will discuss the preliminary scores on the 2024 STAAR tests for third through eighth grade.

On Tuesday, Superintendent Mike Miles will hold a press conference giving an overview of how HISD students performed on the assessments this year.

Last week, the state-appointed superintendent said the state takeover of the district could end sooner than expected based on the test results.

“If we keep up growth like this, we’ll be able to transition out into an elected board soon,” Miles said at a conference last week.
