Cambridge native Mindy Kaling isn’t retiring yet, but a popular Mass. vacation spot may be a top contender for where she lives when she does.

Kaling joined Ted Danson on the “TODAY” show Tuesday morning. The duo, who are raising awareness for plaque psoriasis, have never worked together before but Kaling mentioned Danson in her 2015 memoir, host Sheinelle Jones pointed out.

Jones said Kaling wrote that she wants to retire to “a tasteful mega-compound on Martha’s Vineyard, where I would write plays and drink wine with Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen at least several times a week.”

“So we thought we’d quickly make your dreams come true, we’d bring the wine,” Jones said as a “Today” show worker bought out glasses of wine for the group.

Danson and Steenburgen are no strangers to Martha’s Vineyard. They married on the island in 1995 and own a home there.

“I think what I was writing about is when I become a multibillionaire from all of my TV money, this is what I want to do: retire at the Vineyard and have Ted Danson tell me stories with Mary,” Kaling said.

Then she turned to Danson and said, “Where is Mary? You’re just half of this fantasy.”

“She’s in Portland shooting a film,” Danson said. “And her only thing to me today was please tell Mindy how spectacular she looked at the Met Gala. Nothing about me.”

“I can’t take you to Martha’s Vineyard but we have studio 1A, we have Rockefeller Center,” Jones said, as she took a glass of wine.

“Cheers,” said Danson, clinking glasses with Kaling.

Kaling, a spokesperson along with Danson for the Bristol Myers Squibb campaign for plague psoriasis, does not suffer from the skin condition as Danson does. Danson shared that he’s been dealing with the medical issue since he was 25 years old.

Danson also talked about his new podcast with former castmate in the long-running NBC show “Cheers,” famously set in Boston, called “Where Everybody Knows Your Name with Ted Danson and Woody Harrelson (Sometimes).”
