Just a few days after suiting up in their Patriots practice uniforms for the first time, rookies Drake Maye and Ja’Lynn Polk attended Game 4 of the Panthers-Bruins second-round matchup at TD Garden.

The quarterback and wide receiver duo looked like true New Englanders amongst the crowd, forgoing a suite and opting for seats alongside fans. During the second period of the 3-2 loss, Maye and Polk got the Garden going, jumping to their feet to receive a wave of roaring applause.

Maye and Polk, New England’s 2024 first and second round draft picks, each also donned custom Bruins sweaters. Maye, who will sport his signature no. 10 on the gridiron, wore his name and number in black and gold across his back. Meanwhile, Polk, donned his new no. 1, despite wearing no. 2 at the University of Washington.

Before reporting to Foxborough for rookie minicamp on Friday, Maye told 98.5 The Sports Hub’s Zolak & Bertrand that he was looking forward to arriving in time to watch the Celtics and Bruins on their playoff runs.

“I’m just excited for a new beginning,” Maye said. “I’ve been in North Carolina for my whole life. I’m excited to get somewhere new. It’s a great sports town up there, and I know they’ve got a lot going on right now with the Bruins and Celtics. So, excited to join that and get things going.”

Drafted third overall by the Patriots, it will now be up to Maye to lead his new team past the wild-card round in the playoffs for the first time since 2018. The UNC signal-caller will compete against veteran QB Jacoby Brissett and rookie sixth-round pick Joe Milton III for the starting position this fall.

With the conclusion of rookie minicamp on Saturday, Maye and Polk will have some downtime prior to the start of organized team activities on May 20.

And who knows, maybe they’ll have time to watch another playoff game at TD Garden before phase two of the Patriots’ offseason gets underway.
