Real Madrid Rejects $125 Million Bid From Liverpool For Star Player

Real Madrid has rejected an offer of $125.5 million (£100 million) from Liverpool for one of its star players according to OK Diario director Eduardo Inda, who revealed the news while making an appearance on the popular Spanish television program El Chiringuitoand cited anonymous sources.

Rodrygo has had a season of ups and downs in 2023/2024, which in his own personal case has been defined by spells where he came up with a litany of goals and assists but then embarked on lengthy droughts.

Even so, he netted important strikes in the Champions League against Manchester City in both legs of the quarterfinal, and won a penalty towards the death of a last four tie with Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena which Vinicius converted to make it 2-2.

A week later in the Bernabeu, Joselu netted twice to make it 2-1 on the evening and 3-2 to the hosts on aggregate.

This means that Rodrygo is on the cusp of winning a second UCL crown in five years in the Spanish capital, but doubt has often been cast on his future thanks to the guaranteed arrival of compatriot Endrick and expected signing of Kylian Mbappe.

According to SPORT, however, Rodrygo welcomes competition from such attacking talent and wants to stick around at his first European club to give Carlo Ancelotti the kind of selection headache most managers would love to have.

OK Diario also previously reported that Ancelotti’s belief in Rodrygo, and the respect he has for his versatility, makes him untouchable in the Los Blancos squad.

Following on from this, the outlet’s director Eduardo Inda explained that Madrid has rejected a bid from Liverpool for Rodrygo.

“The bidding club is Liverpool and the player [one] very much in their [playing] style,” Inda explained on El Chiringuito, when leading into a report on a big-money offer.

“We’re talking about a Real Madrid winger and it’s Rodrygo. Real Madrid’s refusal is categorical because the board likes him very much,” Inda added, while explaining that someone will have to leave eventually because of a “duplicate” booking in every attacking position.

With Madrid on the cusp of confirming a treble-winning season, however, President Florentino Perez might at least give it another term to see how everyone gels together with Mbappe and Endrick before deciding who the club needs to offload – if anyone.
