Sandy Springs woman’s boyfriend charged in her death

A man who turned himself in at Sandy Springs Police headquarters has been charged in connection with the death of his girlfriend.

Mamadi Tambajang walked into the police headquarters at approximately 12:45 p.m. on Wednesday, May 15, and told police officers that he assaulted his girlfriend at her apartment. He said she was unresponsive, according to a press release from SSPD.

Patrol units who responded to the apartment found a woman dead on the scene.

SSPD’s Criminal Investigative Division detectives took over the case, executing search warrants for the victim’s apartment and Tambajang’s mother’s apartment.

The detectives later obtained arrest warrants for the suspect for malice murder and aggravated assault. The victim has not been identified yet.

Tambajang remains in the Fulton County Jail with no bond set as of 5 p.m. on May 16 according to the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office Jail Inmate Search website. The jail records list the offense date as May 13.

The investigation continues.
