Thomas Haden Church Reveals If He Would Play Sandman Again For Sam Raimi’s ‘Spider-Man 4’

Could Sam Raimi finally be getting his shot at Spider-Man 4? Thomas Haden Church recently revealed his desire to return as Sandman in a potential sequel.

Thomas Haden Church has always been beloved as Marvel’s Sandman, even if he only played the character in Spider-Man 3 and Spider-Man: No Way Home. Luckily, the actor managed to redeem his tragic villain in Spider-Man: No Way Home, which saw him pulled into the Marvel Cinematic Universe through multiversal shenanigans. When asked if he’d ever play Sandman again, Church revealed he’d love to work with Sam Raimi again on Spider-Man 4, and he thinks it’s actually going to happen!

“[With] Sandman, there’s been some rumors that they might ask me to do another Spider-Man, and I’d do it tomorrow,” Chuch explained to ComicBook.com. “You know, they’ve never asked me to show up in another movie, another Marvel film.”

“But, you know, I think Sam [Raimi] is gonna do another Spider-Man with Tobey [Maguire], and that’s the one that…they had an option for me to do Spider-Man 4 when there was going to be a Spider-Man 4. They had an option on me to come back. So if it happens, that would be fantastic. I’m getting a little old.”

This isn’t the first time Thomas Haden Church has suggested knowing Sam Raimi will return for a Spider-Man 4 with Tobey Maguire, having said as much in July 2023. In a time where the MCU’s multiverse is bringing back everyone’s favorite childhood heroes, it’s not out of the realm of possibility either.

What’s next for Spider-Man?

What does the future hold for Tom Holland’s Peter Parker? The success of Spider-Man: No Way Home has opened up a world of possibilities for the fan-favorite Marvel character. The movie ends with Peter erasing himself from the memories of his loved ones in order to protect them from his enemies. This sets up an interesting dynamic for future Spider-Man movies, as Peter will have to navigate a world in which he is not known as Spider-Man.

Rumor has it that Tom Holland has signed on for multiple Marvel Cinematic Universe appearances after Spider-Man: No Way Home. The future of the Spider-Man series is currently unclear, but it is likely that Marvel will continue to explore the multiverse concept that was introduced in No Way Home.

Spider-Man: No Way Home is now available to own on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray, Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital HD. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding Spider-Man’s Marvel Cinematic Universe future and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
