Uber driver charged with burglary, rape in Sandy Springs

An Uber driver has been arrested and charged with allegedly burglarizing a Sandy Springs resident’s home and then sexually assaulting her.

Le’Myrious Monaye Dawson drove the victim to her home early on Sunday, May 5, according to a press release from the Sandy Springs Police Department. A call was received at approximately 2:37 a.m. on May 5 about the incident.

Detectives obtained arrest warrants for the suspect for theft by taking, burglary, battery, and rape.

Detectives from the Street Crimes Unit found and arrested Dawson at the West End MARTA Station at approximately 2:30 p.m. on May 6, according to the release.

Detectives obtained and executed search warrants for the suspect’s vehicle and residence. Several items belonging to the victim were identified, according to the release. The investigation continues.

Dawson was being held at the Fulton County Jail, a Sandy Springs Police spokesperson confirmed.
